Fall begins with Honeycrisp apple beverages

Take a bite — or is it a sip? — of the season with our fan-favorite drinks, inspired by our Minnesota roots.

If you’re a longtime Caribou Coffee® fan, you know that our company was founded in Minnesota and still calls the state home. But did you know that the Honeycrisp apple is also a Minnesota icon? When we thought about adding new apple drinks to our fall menu alongside pumpkin several years ago, we knew there was only one apple variety to feature: the iconic Honeycrisp!

“Honeycrisp apple was chosen initially because of its unique (and identifiable) sweetness and tartness,” explains Gretchen Hashemi-Rad, Senior Category Manager, Beverage at Caribou Coffee. “It’s a perfect pairing with our caramel sauce. This is why, outside of the Energy drinks, it’s showcased with a caramel pairing.” Gretchen also notes the connection to Minnesota, as the apple itself was originally developed by the University of Minnesota and is now “sold and loved worldwide.” 

Like Gretchen notes, many of the Honeycrisp apple drinks on the fall menu are paired with caramel, because what’s more classically fall than a caramel apple? The crisp tartness helps balance the luxurious, rich sweetness of caramel and creates the juiciest, coziest drink combination possible. If you’ve tried one in the past, you know exactly what we mean; Honeycrisp apple drinks were introduced several years ago and quickly became so beloved we’ve made them recurring members of the seasonal menu.
