Position Overview : The Maintenance Technician performs troubleshooting, repairs, equipment modifications, and occasional maintenance in green blending, roasting, packaging, and distribution warehouses . Looks for continuous improvement in all processes . Innovate by pro-typing new products on equipment.
DOING – What you deliver | Core Responsibilities
Support manufacturing operations by familiarity in operation of all machinery.
Monitor equipment and processes to maintain quality and safety.
Assist with preventative /predictive maintenance tasks , work order, and inventory records when it is necessary.
Improvements tasks and procedures on preventative /predictive maintenance tasks , work order, and inventory records .
Maintain 90% or better machine run time by troubleshooting equipment problems.
Maintain equipment in a safe, efficient operating condition.
Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting of roasting and packaging equipment.
Perform equipment installations and modifications on new and old equipment .
Communicate with Engineering supervisor, support operations department heads, and production team members.
Train team members on new equipment.
Ensure fair and consistent application of Caribou Coffee Company policy and procedures.
Participate in safety committee meetings and initiatives. Rotating bases.
Understand and comply with all Food Safety and related programs, such as but not limited to GMP's, SSOPs, and Adverse Health Policy.
Able to operate forklifts, boom lifts and scissor lifts.
Ability to read, understand, and troubleshoot electrical circuits and pneumatic schematics.
Working knowledge of lockout/tagout programs.
Must be flexible to shift changes, overtime, and weekend coverage.
Conduct failure analysis and troubleshoot problematic systems for continuous improvement.
Response to equipment down time events to troubleshoot and repair on all plant equipment and facilities.
Other duties as assigned.

2+ years of related experience in technician field or equivalent combination of education and experience including engineering experience troubleshooting .
Trade school diploma in electronic and mechanical disciplines in packaging equipment .
Extensive knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) experience , Electrical circuits, and pneumatic systems.
Experience with Vertical Form Fill and Seal (VFF S ), Digital Scales, Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), Steppers, and Servomotors.
Experience using shop tools and hand tools.
Knowledge of CMMS software.
Large-small scale Project experience
Continuous improvement experience
PLC/SCADA systems code modification experience
Welding and fabricating experience
Obtains, maintains Minnesota Electrical Unlicensed individual or greater
Physical Requirements and Environmental Exposures :
Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds
Must be able to work “on your feet ”
Must be able to endure constant leaning and bending during shift
Must be able to handle/move up to 750 pound bins on caster
Airborne particles, Fumes, High places, Moving parts, Muscular strain, Noise, Odors, High temperatures
