Position Overview :

As a Compensation Specialist , your role is to design, develop, and implement compensation and incentive packages to attract and retain team members . You'll work closely with the HR team , executives, and department managers to ensure that the organization is providing a fair and competitive rewards system that aligns with the company's goals and values. Additionally, this position is critical to ensuring compliance, integrity in compensation processes, and supporting overall educational initiatives related to the rewards and recognition plans.

A nalyzes, designs, and administers employer compensation programs, including base pay, long and short-term incentives, spot bonuses, commissions, and stock that align with company objectives for recruiting, retention, and employee engagement. Designs and communicates pay structures, grades, compensation budgets, and guidelines. Advises managers on making effective pay decisions that support employee engagement and comply with compensation policy and budgetary guidelines. Evaluates jobs and develops and maintains job descriptions and job architecture. Participates in compensation surveys, conducts research and analysis on market competitiveness, pay equity, and compensation trends. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Core Responsibilities

Base pay administratio n

  • Oversee job evaluations, market pricing , leveling, and benchmarking process across the company to ensure competitive and equitable compensation packages

  • Design and maintain job leveling and grading system to support overall organization

  • Lead the support of the merit cycle process for field and support center partners

  • Participate in annual benchmarking and compensation surveys

  • Research and inform on market trends to guide organizational strateg y and budget planning

  • Create and maintain compensation policies and processes that support attraction and retention goals for the organization

  • Create and facilitate training to inform leaders and other stakeholders on compensation philosophies and best practices

  • Serve as compensation contact to HR partners and other stakeholders to provide advice, direction, and guidance on compensation matters

  • Manage internal total rewards statement and offer letters processes

Incentive pay administration

  • Oversee administration of Short-Term Incentive plans (STIP) , including but not limited to quarterly/annual bonus program

  • Oversee administration of Long-Term Incentive plans (LTIP), including biannual cycle of grants, sales, and purchases of stock-based compensation

  • Oversee other one-time payment programs, including signing, referral, and spot / project-based bonus programs

Compensation compliance administration

  • D rive compliance through awareness and oversight of programmatic needs related to FLSA, pay transparency, ESST and other applicable laws .

  • Conduct audits and reviews of compensation programs to ensure compliance with laws and regulations

  • Oversee minimum wage and other compensation-based changes to ensure compliance and communication

  • Strong collaborative and communication skills to drive positive relationships and ensure key stakeholders are informed about the state of their needs/ expectations.

  • High attention to detail.

  • Inherently curious – identi f y process or procedural opportunities and use data to support findings as well as validate the solution.

  • Strong organizatio n and prioritization experience .

  • Offer strong mentorship to direct reports for personal and professional development.

  • Demonstrate expert-level understanding of Caribou Coffee offerings and resources .

  • Ability to communicate well one-on-one as well as present to small groups or teams.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 2-4 years of Analyst-level experience with compensation.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with a concentration in Human Resources or a similar field.

  • Proficient in Microsoft systems, including Outlook, excel, word, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to analyze, document, and present data for a variety of audiences at different levels within the organization.

Preferred:

  • SHRM certification

  • Workday HRIS experience

  • Data analytics and reporting experience
