Supporting pediatric cancer research with Cold Press for Cancer
Little things can make a big impact; even something as ordinary as grabbing a cup of coffee can help change someone’s day — and maybe even their life. While you’re going about your daily activities at home and at work, doctors and researchers at the M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital are hard at work caring for patients and searching for a cure for pediatric cancers. It’s a cause Caribou Coffee is proud to support, and you can help us make a difference for children and families dealing with cancer. It’s another way we bring our mission to create day-making experiences that spark a chain reaction of good to life, especially in our home state of Minnesota.
Below, learn more about September’s Cold Press for Cancer initiative and our partnership with the hospital.

Cold Press for Cancer at Caribou Coffee
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, so what better time to help support pediatric cancer research and care? Simply stop by a participating Caribou Coffee location near you and treat yourself to a delicious Cold Press every Friday this month. For every Cold Press sold on Fridays in September, Caribou Coffee will donate $1 to pediatric cancer research and care at M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital so that their researchers and doctors can continue to advance care and develop new life-saving breakthroughs.
Each week in September, we’re teaming up with Care for Cancer Captains, including patients and doctors from the hospital, who will share their stories on M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital’s social channels. One such Captain is gymnast Braxton Battaglia, who is currently undergoing her second round of treatment for leukemia. Braxton and her family created the TB1 Fund to support other young people and families receiving care at M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital. “Our goal is to provide positive experiences and day brighteners that can immediately effect patients and families,” Braxton shared. “It’s important to have something to focus on other than the reason why you’re in the hospital.”
“Braxton Battaglia is the epitome of a day-maker and she and the TB1 Fund have shown up in big ways to support the patients and families at the hospital. We are honored to join her to raise awareness during Childhood Cancer Month and hope our Cold Press for Cancer initiative encourages others to join us by the simple act of ordering a Cold Press on Fridays in September,” says Lyndsey Boggs, Brand Activation Manager.

Joining forces with M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital
Caribou has been a proud supporter of M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital and their essential work since 2018, when we launched Caribou Coffee Cares, a partnership with the Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Gophers and Love Your Melon; proceeds from special coffees and beanies went to support programming at the hospital. During the pandemic, Caribou donated single-serve, ready-to-drink beverages to hospital teams and also donated fresh-brewed coffee via the ‘Bou Truck.
M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital is the only children’s hospital in the state affiliated with the University of Minnesota Medical School and Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota. The partnership with these premier research and academic institutions allows M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital to translate the latest scientific breakthroughs into state-of-the-art treatments for kids.
“At Caribou Coffee, we’re committed to uplifting our local communities. And while our purpose is to create day-making experiences in coffeehouses worldwide, we also strive to leave a lasting impact in our hometown,” says Kayleen Alexson, Sr. Director of ESG and Enterprise Brand Strategy. “The work taking place at M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital is truly inspirational and it’s our honor to help support their important mission once again during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.”
Brax, whose favorite Caribou drink is the Strawberry Mango Smoothie, is excited to be part of the Cancer Captains crew this year. “I am proud to be a Cancer Captain and advocate for not only pediatric cancer research but for all of the patients going through cancer treatment,” she says. “I think it is great that Caribou Coffee is involved in giving back to the hospital.”
By stopping by participating Caribou Coffee location each Friday in September for a flavorful, icy cold glass of Cold Press, you’re directly supporting these efforts — and the many children and families affected by childhood cancer.
